Walker to run on platform of strengthening community through jobs, environment and safety.
Knoxville, TN: Randy Walker from Knoxville, Tennessee is the District 7 Democratic Candidate for the State Senate. For the past 21 years, Randy has worked as a Program Manager and Business Developer for Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He received his Bachelor of Science in Logistics and Transportation from The University of Tennessee.
During his career Randy has worked as a business developer, college instructor, operations manager, program manager and business entrepreneur.
“I have hands on experience dealing with all levels of industry and government including the international community and will bring that strength and commitment to Knox County residents,” Walker states.
He is internationally recognized as a subject matter expert in the development of technology-driven security and safety policies for the global freight supply chain. His career accomplishments have been featured in national print, radio and television media. Randy has facilitated southeast regional homeland security weigh station demonstrations that have strengthened national security and brought jobs and resources to both Knox County and the state of Tennessee. Randy currently serves on the Anti-Terrorism Advisory Committee (ATAC) for the US Attorney of Northern Illinois, the DOE Contractors Transportation Management Association (CTMA) Board and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) working group.
“I want to bring my unique talent and diverse experience to the citizens of Knox County and to the Tennessee State Legislature. I believe in bringing strong sustainable jobs to the area, providing a safe, secure, and environmentally sound community and developing an effective pay as you go government,” says Walker.
Randy is married to Cindy Walker and has two children; Christin, 22 , a student at East Tennessee State University, and, Jeremy, 21, a student at the University of Tennessee. Born and raised in Oak Ridge, TN; Randy and Cindy have been active in the Knoxville community for over 20 years, raising a family and serving as youth sports coaches, youth sports commissioners, board members of the Farragut, Knox County and Tennessee State PTA, and as board members with Cedar Bluff Farragut Optimist Club where they founded the CBFO Volleyball Program.
“If elected to the State Senate, my commitment and investment in the Knoxville community will not stop but continue as I work with the citizens and fellow legislators to help Knox County realize its full potential. There is no reason that Knox County should not have the best schools, best jobs and become a community that attracts people to want to build a life and legacy in this area,” Walker says.
A successful first fundraiser house party was held October 1 at the home of Dr. Frederick Sheldon in Gettysvue; a major announcement is planned for November 2 concerning the Elect Randy Walker State Senate District 7 at the home of Will Minter, Vice-Chair of the Knox County Democratic Party.
