I wanted to provide an update on the campaign at this point and some critical dates that are coming up.
First we have had numerous party’s, get-togethers, fundrasiers, speaking engagements and listening sessions and I have been absolutely encouraged by the reaction to our message of Jobs, Economic Development, Education and Public Safety. It is also clear that Knoxvillians want a serious State Senator who can lead our community into the next decade.
Second, East Tennessee voters aren’t concerned with party affiliation, they want a Senator that can work to drive economic development in our region and provide serious leadership in the State Senate to help grow our local economy.
Third, this emerging organization and the ability of the campaign to carry this message until November will cost money. And that is why I am asking you to make an immediate contribution to my campaign of $5, $15, $25, $50, $75, $100, $250,or whatever you can afford to give.
The response to our message about job growth, education and public safety has been so strong; we’ve been able to establish a serious campaign orgnaization that is being noticed in Nashville.
Many more campaign events are planned and I need your help by attending, volunteering to help, bringing your family, friends and neighbors or simply praying for us.
With your help we will make East Tennessee and Knoxville a better place for you and your loved ones.
I need your support to do it. If you can, please give at this time it is critical for us to come in with a strong financial showing to our opponents and the political pundits for our April 12 reporting date.
My experience as a family man, youth sports commissioner, successful businessman and business developer, will guide me as a serious State Senator for you. I will work to retain and create good jobs, improve public education, attract new industry, and ensure a safe community for all Knoxville and Knox County constituents.

Will you act now by making a secure online donation?

Mail your check to:
Elect Randy Walker State Senate
PO Box 22852
Knoxville, TN 37933
Thank you for your support and prayers, and I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail.

Your Friend and Neighbor,

Randy

P.S.
Any amount you can give today will help us reach our goals.

The Randy Walker social networking site is the fastest and easiest way to keep up with campaign news and happenings. Please friend Randy Walker and become a fan of one of his groups today……”He says he plans to use social media in his own campaign and is very familiar with it from using it in his job at ORNL—and he would welcome Republican Burchett’s endorsement, but doesn’t expect it. Walker scheduled a fund-raiser last week with prominent Democrats, including Madeline Rogero, state Rep. Joe Armstrong, Fuad Reveiz, Knox County Commissioners Tank Strickland and Amy Broyles, Sid Gilreath, and school board member Indya Kincannon as hosts.” http://www.metropulse.com/news/2010/feb/24/tim-burchett-needs-friend-or-4000/

The Committee to Elect Randy Walker will be hosting a Reception from 5 – 7 PM Tuesday February 23rd at the Hilton Garden Inn (behind the Outback on Parkside Drive at Cedar Bluff). This will be an opportunity to meet with Randy and discuss issues that concern you. The reception is free however campaign donations are appreciated. Randy is running a grass roots campaign for the State Senate and in that respect small donations by supporters and concerned constituents are the catalyst for the campaign.

Knoxville, TN: The first reports for candidates running for the 7th district senate seat were turned in last week. A summary of these reports is available on the Tennessee Secretary of State’s website, http://www.tennesseeanytime.org/tncamp-app/public/cpsearch.htm.

According to the most recently filed campaign contribution reports Randy Walker raised $25,330, Stacey Campfield raised $6,450, Ron Leadbetter raised $5,984, and no reports were turned in for Chuck Williams or Steve Hill.

Fresh off a successful fundraiser at Season’s Café in Farragut, Randy Walker’s campaign for the 7th District State Senate seat is building momentum. With support from Republicans and Democrats, Walker’s message of growing East Tennessee’s economy and focus on job creation is resonating with voters and is evident in Walker’s significant lead in campaign contributions among all potential candidates. According to recently published reports, Walker has raised more than twice the campaign contributions of all his potential opponents combined.

Of the recent campaign contribution report, Walker said, “These are serious times and the people of East Tennessee know we need a serious State Senator who can lead our community into the next decade.” “I have been working for the past ten years to bring good paying jobs to our region and grow our local businesses, and the good people of East Tennessee are beginning to respond to our message.” “East Tennessee voters aren’t concerned with party affiliation, they want a Senator that can work to drive economic development in our region and provide serious leadership in the State Senate to help grow our local economy.”

On January 28, 2010, Randy Walker will be hosting a “meet and greet” with the Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce http://www.farragutchamber.com/index.php at Water’s Edge Conference and Convention Center, 608 Mabry Hood Road http://watersedge.rodefermoss.com/.

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others” – Rev Martin Luther King Jr.

Of the many thoughtful and insightful quotes of Dr. King, this straightforward quote has had the most profound effect on me. Even though he uttered this simple phrase at the heart of the Civil Rights Movement, it still remains as valid today as it did then. How can we sit back and do nothing while other human beings suffer? Human suffering any place on God’s green earth is unconscionable.

MLK day means more to me than simply honoring an epically strong and courageous man, it’s a day when we ask ourselves the question, “How have we helped?” The “Dream” was always to ensure that all human beings can live free, happy and prosperous. We have made significant progress in our great country toward this goal but more must be done.

When I witness the tragic suffering of our brothers and sisters in Haiti, and I watch the USA lead the many countries and volunteers desperately trying to respond, I think of the Bible verse from Luke 12: 35…From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded.

I think Dr. King would be proud of where we are as a nation. Even though our great nation is in a severe recession, even though many of our own citizens are suffering and out of work, “we the people” are still are working hard to help our fellow humans who have been afflicted with tremendous hardship.

God Bless America and God Bless Knoxville, Tennessee.

It is vital that we send a message that this campaign is a people’s campaign and that is why I am asking you to make an immediate contribution to my campaign of $10, $25, $50, $100, $250, $500 or whatever you can give.

Any amount you can contribute is an investment in the future of Knoxville and east Tennessee. We feel the campaign has made great progress considering we have only been at it about 90 days and we are enthused by the outpouring of prayers, love and support shown by the constituents of Knoxville and Knox County. Since kicking off the campaign in October Cindy, Christin, Jeremy and I and I have attended daily campaign events, met the leaders of Tennessee and Knox County, and walked many neighborhoods. We have met some of the most hardworking compassionate people and it only strengthens our resolve to help Knoxville and Knox County grow and prosper.

The response to our message about job growth, education and public safety has been so strong; we’ve been able to establish a top-notch campaign team.

Stephen F Covey once said, “If we keep doing what we’re doing, we’re going to keep getting the same results.” We must send leadership, maturity and sensibility to Nashville in 2010. This is your campaign and only with your help can we take your ideas to Nashville. It’s time for state government to be given back to the people.

I know I can help lead Knoxville into the new decade. I know how to lead and succeed through tough times, I have done it before and I will do it again….I know how to create jobs in Knoxville, I have done it beforeand I will do it again… I know how to encourage youth to excel through community leadership, I have done it before and I will do it again…..I know how to empower first responders to make a safe secure community to live and raise our families… I have done it before and I will do it again.

I will make Knoxville a better place for you and your loved ones, but I need your help to do it. . That’s why I’m asking you to make an immediate contribution to my campaign of $10, $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, or whatever you can give.

My experience as a family man, youth sports commissioner, successful businessman and business developer, will guide me as your State Senator. I will work to retain and create good jobs, improve public education, attract new industry, provide quality healthcare and obtain affordable clean energy.

There are only 2 weeks left for you to help us reach our fundraising goals. I really want to make sure we have done everything we can to maximize our numbers for this report.
